Who is Jesus and why do we need Him?

If you do not know who Jesus Christ is or why men and women need Him, then you’ve come to the right place.

  • The Bible is clear; we were all born into sin and as a consequence are separated from God. We live in a fallen world as fallen, or sinful, people. – Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23
  • We were created in the image of God. Through the deceit and deception of Satan, sin entered the world creating a separation between God and his creation. – Genesis 2:17, 3:6-7, 3:22-23
  • God does not desire for us to continue in sin, so He gave us the greatest gift – His only Son, Jesus, who lived a perfect, sinless life then died on the cross paying the penalty due us for our sin. After three days He rose from the dead – destroying the separation and uniting us in love with Him. – Romans 6:10, John 14:6
  • God requires that we acknowledge our sin and that we need Him to save us. The Bible makes it clear that when we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, then we will be free from the penalty of sin and will once again be united with God now and for eternity. – Romans 10:9-10
If this is the desire of your heart, or if you are contemplating this, we are here for you and would love to talk with you about it. Choosing to follow Jesus Christ is the beginning of a new life. It’s about allowing God to work in and through you, to changing you into the person you were meant to be.

So you’ve decided that you want to follow Jesus. Now what?

  • Choose a body of believers and get plugged in. We’d love to have you join us here at FBC. If not FBC, find another church body that preaches the Gospel and meets your needs. What is important is that you choose a church body that edifies Christ, teaches and challenges you to grow in your faith, and takes you by the hand to learn about this great God of ours.
  • Read the Bible! If you do not have a Bible, we will give you one. Simply visit our offices or on Sunday morning ask an usher or someone at our Welcome Center, located in the lobby. Spending time reading God’s Word gives us a glimpse of who He is.
  • Get connected by becoming involved in one or more of the following: a men’s or women’s Bible study, a Life Group, or a Spiritual Formation class on Sunday mornings.
  • Attend a Newcomer’s Lunch held at regular intervals. It’s a great place to meet other folks who are new at FBC just like you, to learn more about the church and how to get involved, as well as nurture your faith.

The Bible is clear that we are to pursue God together. For more information on our classes, Newcomer’s Lunches, services, and more, please call or email:
